Random Team Generator

Notes

▾
  • This page will randomly draft and balance teams.
  • Tap or click the ? icons for more info.
  • Player Pools can be used to group players for drafting purposes. Such as group by age, gender, positions.
  • The player Level can be thought of as a "Draft Round", where better players are selected in round 1.
  • Names for a Buddy and Conflict must match the Name field exactly. Buddies must be reciprocal — both players have to name each other. A conflict is one-way: only one of the two players needs to list the other, and the pair is kept apart either way. Conflicts override buddy placement.
  • The buddy button beside each player's RSVP shows the state of that player's Buddy field: dim when it's empty, tappable when the name matches a player (tap it to ignore that pairing for this draft), and a warning when the name matches nobody on the roster — check the spelling there before generating teams.
  • To draft without any buddy requests, turn on Ignore All Buddies in the menu. The Buddy names stay on the roster, ready for next time; to skip just one pairing, use that player's buddy button instead.
  • Assigning a Team # will pin that player to a specific team, which is useful for sorting coaches' kids.
  • Teams are balanced on strength: each player's Level (with Weighted Pools, their Level and Pool together), averaged over the team. Weighted Pools and Large Team Advantage apply every time you generate; Improve Balance adds a swap search on top, using safe swaps only (no headcount changes, no broken pins/buddies/conflicts).
  • Use Weighted Pools when pools are groups of different strength, such as age bands, with Level ranking players inside each group. Pool 1 is the strongest; Levels between pools says how far each group sits below the one above it.
  • This page uses local storage on your device to remember your previous option settings. It is optional if you want the page to remember your roster. No personal data is collected or tracked.
  • All data on this page stays local to your device, so you need to "Export to CSV" to save your roster long term.
  • If you have a large player roster, then you may want to export a CSV as a template and edit in a spreadsheet instead of typing it into the website.
  • This page is a continuing work in progress as I have free time, so options may change or break without notice. (You get what you pay for)
